Common questions

Questions, answered straight

The things local businesses usually ask before getting started. Can't see yours? Just ask.

Pricing & payments

Is there a setup fee?

Not on the Basic or Professional plans. The monthly price covers the design and build, hosting, SSL, your domain, updates and support. Corporate websites are quoted builds, with a fixed price in writing before any work starts.

How long is the minimum term?

There isn't a long contract: plans run month to month and you can cancel with 30 days' notice. If you'd like to take your site with you when you leave, see the next question.

What happens to my website if I cancel?

Your domain and everything you gave me — words, photos, logo — are always yours. The design and code are licensed to you while your plan is active. If you want to keep the site itself, you can buy it outright for the balance of 12 months of your plan, minus what you've already paid. After a year, there's nothing to pay.

Can I switch plans later?

Yes. Moving from Basic to Professional takes effect from your next billing month, and I'll build the extra pages and features as part of the change. You can move down a plan too, once the site fits within it.

What does “ad spend separate” mean?

Google Management, Social Media Management and the Digital Manager plan cover my time setting up and running your ads. The money you spend on the ads themselves is paid directly to Google or Meta on your own card, so you can see exactly where every rand goes. You choose the budget.

What if I need something my plan doesn't include?

I'll quote it, you approve it, and only then does it get done, at R500/hour in 15-minute blocks. Nothing is ever billed without your say-so.

How do I pay?

By monthly card payment through Stripe. Corporate builds are invoiced against the agreed quote. EFT is fine too.

Websites

Which website plan is right for me?

If you need a few pages that explain what you do and get people calling, go Basic. If you want a custom design, a blog, testimonials and monthly reporting, go Professional. If you need an online shop, bookings, integrations or more than 15 pages, Corporate is the one. Not sure? Pick “not sure” on the start form and I'll recommend one, with no upselling.

Will my website work on phones?

Yes. Every site is designed mobile-first, because that's where most local customers will find you. It's tested on phones, tablets and desktops before it goes live.

Can you redesign my existing website?

Yes. If your current site is old, slow or awkward on a phone, I'll rebuild it properly and move everything over, usually without any downtime. Send me the link and I'll give you an honest opinion, free.

Who owns the domain?

You do. Domains are registered in your name, never mine. If you already have one, I'll connect it or transfer it at no charge.

How many changes can I make each month?

Basic includes 30 minutes of updates a month and Professional includes 1.5 hours, which is plenty for new photos, prices, opening hours or a fresh service. Unused time doesn't roll over. Anything bigger gets quoted first.

Hosting, domains & email

Is hosting really included?

Yes. Every Basic and Professional website includes hosting and an SSL certificate, and Corporate websites are hosted under Website Maintenance. There's nothing extra to pay.

Can you transfer my existing domain?

Yes, free of charge. The domain stays registered in your name throughout.

Do you provide email addresses?

Plans include email forwarding, so mail sent to you@yourbusiness.co.za lands in the inbox you already use. If you want full mailboxes, I'll set up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 in your name, billed to you directly by them.

Google Management

What's the difference between Google Management and SEO?

Google Management looks after your Google accounts: Business Profile, Ads, Analytics, Tag Manager and Search Console. SEO works on your website itself so it ranks better in the free results. They work best together, and the Digital Manager plan includes both.

Is Google Ads spend included?

No. The R2,500/month covers my time setting up and managing campaigns. Your ad budget is paid directly to Google on your own card, so you stay in control of it.

Can you get my business on Google Maps?

Yes. I'll create or claim your Google Business Profile, take it through Google's verification, and keep it updated with posts, photos and replies to reviews. Verification is Google's decision, but I'll do everything I can to get you through it.

Will you guarantee a top spot on Google?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Nobody controls Google's rankings. What I do promise is honest work, done properly, with a monthly report showing exactly what's changed.

Social media

Which platforms do you post on?

Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and X. We'll agree which ones suit your customers. There's no point being everywhere if your customers are only in two places.

Do I have to supply photos?

Photos of your real work always perform best, so send what you have by WhatsApp or email. I'll design the rest of the graphics and write every caption.

Do I get to approve posts?

Yes. You get each month's posts to look over before they're scheduled, and I'll change anything you're not happy with.

Is Meta ads spend included?

No. The R2,500/month covers creating and managing your ads. Your ad budget is paid directly to Meta, so you choose how much to spend.

SEO

How long does SEO take to work?

Typically three to six months for real movement, depending on how competitive your trade and area are. You'll see a monthly report from the start, so you can watch it build.

Why is SEO “from” R2,500?

R2,500/month covers a local business in one town or area. Wider areas, more competitive trades or larger sites need more hours, and I'll quote that up front.

Do I need a website from you to get SEO?

No. I can work on most existing websites. I'll take an honest look first and tell you whether it's worth optimising or whether a rebuild would get you further for the money.

Working together

How do we get started?

Fill in the start form. It takes about five minutes and asks for everything I need. I'll reply within a working day to confirm the plan and flag anything missing.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm SA time. Edits are completed within 24–48 business hours, and if your site goes down it's restored within 2–4 business hours.

Are you an agency?

No, I'm one person. You deal with me from first message to launch and beyond, with no account managers and no passing you around.

Do you work with businesses all over South Africa?

Yes. Everything is done remotely, by phone, email and WhatsApp, so I work with businesses across South Africa.

Still have a question?

Call, WhatsApp or email and you'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.
