What I collect, why, who else touches it, and how to get it deleted. Short and in plain English.

Who I am

Travers & Co. is the responsible party for this website under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Contact: sales@traversandco.co.za or 079 925 5243.

What I collect and why

  • Enquiry form: your name, business name, phone, email (optional), the service you're interested in and your message. Used to reply to you. Lawful basis: legitimate interests / steps before a contract (POPIA section 11).
  • Start-a-project form: the details you enter about your business, your contact details, and any logo or photos you upload. Used to quote for and build your website. Lawful basis: steps before a contract.
  • Clients: billing and account details needed to provide your plan. Lawful basis: contract and legal obligation (SARS records).
  • Analytics (only with your consent): anonymous information about which pages are visited, via Google Analytics. Lawful basis: consent.

Who else processes it

  • Cloudflare hosts this website, stores start-a-project submissions and provides the Turnstile spam check.
  • FormSubmit delivers enquiry form messages and notifications to my inbox.
  • Your bank or payment provider processes card, debit order and EFT payments.
  • Google provides Google Analytics, only if you allow it.

Some of these providers process data outside South Africa. Under POPIA section 72, this only happens where the recipient is bound by laws or agreements giving adequate protection.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don't go anywhere are deleted after 12 months. Client records are kept for as long as you're a client and then for 5 years for SARS purposes. Uploaded photos and logos are deleted when no longer needed for your website.

Cookies

This site doesn't set any cookies unless you choose Allow analytics in the cookie banner. If you do, Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) to count visits and see which pages are useful. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage for 12 months.

The start-a-project form also saves your unfinished answers in your browser's local storage, so you can pick up where you left off. That never leaves your device until you submit. The spam check on that form (Cloudflare Turnstile) may use strictly necessary technical data to tell people from bots.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data I hold about you, object to how it's used, or withdraw consent at any time. Email sales@traversandco.co.za and I'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
